Semi-hydroponics

Semi-hydroponic plants are grown in non-soil substrate (such as LECA balls or pumic stone). Since there's no soil, you won't have to worry about any pests or pathogens that can appear in indoor plants (e.g. mould, fungi, gnats)

The bottom of the pot (where the non-soil substrate is) acts as a water reservoir, where the roots absorb water from. This is what makes caring for them so easy: a water meter tells you if the reservoir is empty. When it is, just water till the meter reads "max". Make sure to not go past the "max" mark to avoid overflowing the reservoir.

There is one thing to be aware of: when planted in soil, plants will obtain nutrients from the soil directly. In a semi-hydroponic system, there is no soil and the LECA/pumic stone do not hold any nutrients, so the plant will need to absorb nutrient that is diluted in the water.

As a result, it is necessary to regularly (1-2 times a month) provide your hydroponic plant with nutrients that have been diluted in the water.

We offer Beautanic Superfood. 120g will last about 6-8 months per plant. You can use any alternative, just make sure it's made for hydroponic/semi-hydroponic plants.
