Fiddle Plants grow best in spaces with bright indirect light, where the sun is soft or diffused. They can adapt to medium light, though be careful to not overwater it, as the soil will take longer to dry with lesser light. They can also tolerate direct sunlight, though be sure to check the soil regularly since that will cause your Fiddle Plant's soil to dry out faster. Never place it in a dark spot, since the soil will almost definitely take too long to dry out, which will cause your Fiddle Plant's roots to rot (a death sentence).

Caring for your Fiddle Leaf Fig
Fiddle Plants love bright, indirect light and thrive near large, sunny windows. Indoors, they need similar conditions to keep their large violin-shaped leaves healthy and vibrant.

Best placement: Close to an east-facing window, or a few feet from a south or west-facing window with sheer curtains.
If the light is too low: Leaves may drop, growth will slow, and the plant can become leggy.
If the light is too strong: Direct UAE summer sun can scorch the leaves — provide filtered light during midday.
Water every 1–2 weeks, but always let the top 5–8 cm of soil dry out before watering again.

How to check: Stick your finger into the soil — if it feels dry at that depth, it’s time to water.
Why this matters: Fiddle Plants dislike constantly wet soil, which can lead to root rot. Their roots thrive in evenly moist but not soggy conditions.
Watering tip: When watering your plant, evenly water the entire soil mixture until you see water draining from the bottom of the nursery pot. After allowing all the excess water to drain out, discard that water.
Repot every 1–2 years, or when you see roots coming through the drainage holes. Whichever comes first.

Why not repot right away? Like most plants, Fiddle Plants experience “transit shock” after being moved to a new home, so it’s best to let them settle first.
Best time to repot: October to May, when the plant is actively growing.
Yes! Fiddle Plants benefit from regular fertilizing. If you live in the UAE, fertilize once a month from October to May, when your Fiddle plant is actively growing.

During the peak summer months (June–September), growth will slow due to extreme heat, so reduce or pause fertilizing if your plant isn’t actively growing. Over-fertilizing can stress the plant and lead to leaf burn.
Not ideal — Fiddle Plants are moderately sensitive to the chloramine and high mineral content in UAE tap water, which can cause leaf spots or browning over time.

Better options: Filtered water or distilled water, especially if you notice leaf tip browning.

To distill water, boil in a kettle at 100 degrees celsius and allow the water to cool down to room temperature overnight
Yes — Fiddle Plants can grow into small indoor trees, reaching 2–3 meters indoors with the right care.

Why: Their large leaves lose moisture quickly in dry air, which can cause the edges of the leaves to brown.
Tip: Mist the leaves once a day to boost humidity and wipe leaves regularly to remove dust, which can block light absorption.
