They can adapt to medium light, though be careful to not overwater it, as the soil will take longer to dry with lesser light. Avoid placing it under direct midday sunlight (especially during the summer), since that will cause your Flamingo Plant to dry out and the leaf tips to brown. Never place it in a dark spot, since the soil will almost definitely take too long to dry out, which will cause your Flamingo Plant's roots to rot (a death sentence).

  • If the soil feels COMPLETELY DRY, then it’s time to water.

FAQ

Caring for your Flamingo Plant
Flamingo Plants love bright, indirect light and thrive near large, sunny windows.Indoors, they need a similar setup to keep their glossy leaves and colourful flowers vibrant.

Best placement: Close to an east-facing window, or a few feet from a south or west-facing window with sheer curtains.

If the light is too low: Fewer flowers, slower growth, and darker, droopy leaves.

If the light is too strong: Direct UAE summer sun can scorch the leaves and cause fading of the flowers.
Water every 1–2 weeks, keeping the soil evenly moist but never soggy.

How to check: Press your finger into the top 3–4 cm of soil — if it feels dry, water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom.

Why this matters: Anthuriums have fine roots that need consistent moisture but suffer quickly from root rot if left in soggy soil.

Watering tip: When watering your plant, evenly water the entire soil mixture until you see water draining from the bottom of the nursery pot. After allowing all the excess water to drain out, discard that water.
Repot every 1–2 years, or when you see roots coming through the drainage holes. Whichever comes first.

Why not repot right away? Like most plants, Anthuriums need time to adjust to their new home and can go into “transit shock” if repotted too soon.

Best time to repot: October to May, when the plant is actively growing.
Yes! Flamingo Plants benefit from regular fertilizing. If you live in the UAE, fertilize once a month from October to May, when your Flamingo Plant is actively growing.

During the peak summer months (June–September), growth will slow due to extreme heat, so reduce or pause fertilizing if your plant isn’t actively growing. Over-fertilizing can stress the plant and lead to leaf burn.
Not recommended — Flamingo Plants are sensitive to the chloramine and high calcium content in UAE tap water. This can cause leaf tips to turn brown or flower edges to burn.

Better options: Filtered water or distilled water, especially if you notice leaf tip browning.

To distill water, boil in a kettle at 100 degrees celsius and allow the water to cool down to room temperature overnight.
Yes — with proper care, it can grow into a lush plant with more leaves and blooms year-round. Indoors, mature plants typically reach 40–60 cm tall.

Bloom cycle: Anthuriums can flower multiple times a year with the right care.
No — all parts of Flamingo Plants are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets.
Yellow leaves: Could be from overwatering or aging leaves naturally dying off.
Brown edges: Often from low humidity, poor water quality, or underwatering.
Green flowers: A sign the bloom is maturing — normal, but often means the plant needs more light to produce vibrant colours.

We know plants don't do well sitting outdoors in the UAE.
If the delivery address is to an apartment building, we will leave your gift order outside the receiver's door.
If the delivery is to a villa, our drivers will try to call the recipient or number on the shipping address to coordinate a safe drop-off.
If we can't reach them, we'll bring the plant back with us and arrange a better delivery time so the plant stays healthy.
We package everything carefully and take extreme care when delivering our plants.
If, for whatever reason, the plant or pot arrives damaged, just reply to your order confirmation email or Whatsapp us with a quick and we'll sort out a replacement for you right away.

Your plant will arrive in its nursery pot, securely packaged to protect the leaves and prevent soil spillage.

Once received, place your plant in the spot you plan to keep it in and leave it there until it is time to repot, allowing it to acclimate to its new environment.

There are some exceptions to this approach, specifically with our range of micro succulents, that tend to acclimate just fine outside of their nursery pots. So, we've gone ahead and repotted those plants for you.
