The Philodendron Silver is known for it's unique, silver-metallic colour that separates it from other Philodendrons and indoor plants.
While this variety can trail, the arrow-shaped leaves stack beautifully as they climb a moss pole or bamboo stick.

Botanical name: Philodendron 'Silver Queen'

Philodendron Silvers grow best in spaces with bright indirect light, where the sun is soft or diffused. They can adapt to medium light, though be careful to not overwater it, as the soil will take longer to dry with lesser light. Avoid placing it under direct midday sunlight (especially during the summer), since that will cause your Philodendron Silver to dry out and the leaf tips to brown. Never place it in a dark spot, since the soil will almost definitely take too long to dry out, which will cause your Philodendron Silver's roots to rot (a death sentence).

Let the soil dry out between waterings

Every 1-2 weeks, stick your finger 25% into the soil:

  • If you feel ANY moisture, at all, wait longer before watering.
  • If the soil feels COMPLETELY DRY, then it’s time to water.

Note: the more light it gets, the more often it'll need to be checked & watered

Discard excess water

When watering, fully water the entire soil mixture. Then, allow all the excess water to drain out the bottom of the pot’s drainage holes. Discard that water.

FAQ

Caring for your Philodendron Silver
Philodendrons are adaptable. They tolerate low and medium light levels but thrive best in bright, indirect light.

Best placement: Near an east-facing window, or a few feet back from a bright south/west window with sheer curtains.
If the light is too low: Most varieties will tolerate it, but growth slows and leaves may get smaller or lose definition.
Avoid harsh sun: Direct UAE afternoon sun through glass can scorch or fade leaves.
Water every 1–2 weeks, letting the top 3–5 cm of soil dry between waterings.

How to check: Stick your finger into the soil — if the top layer is dry but there’s slight moisture below, water thoroughly until excess drains out.
Why this matters: Philodendrons like consistent, lightly moist soil but suffer in soggy conditions; overwatering is the most common cause of root issues.
Watering tip: When watering your plant, evenly water the entire soil mixture until you see water draining from the bottom of the nursery pot. After allowing all the excess water to drain out, discard that water.
Every 1–2 years, or when roots circle the pot or emerge from drainage holes. Whichever comes first.

Why not repot right away? Like most indoor plants, Philodendrons need time to acclimate to their new environment after moving. Immediate repotting can stress the plant.
Best time to repot: October to May, when the plant is actively growing.
Yes! Philodendrons benefit from regular fertilizing. If you live in the UAE, fertilize once a month from October to May, when your Philodendron is actively growing.

During the peak summer months (June–September), growth will slow due to extreme heat, so reduce or pause fertilizing if your plant isn’t actively growing. Over-fertilizing can stress the plant and lead to leaf burn.
Generally yes, but watch the leaf tips for any browning. UAE tap water contains chloramine and dissolved minerals that some philodendrons are moderately sensitive to.

Better options: Filtered water or distilled water, especially if you notice leaf tip browning.

To distill water, boil in a kettle at 100 degrees celsius and allow the water to cool down to room temperature overnight.
Yes — steadily. In ideal indoor conditions, they’ll grow taller stems and produce new shoots from the base, forming a lush clump over the years.
No — Philodendrons can be toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep them out of reach of pets.
Yellow leaves: Often due to overwatering or poor drainage.
Brown tips: Low humidity, inconsistent watering, or mineral build-up.
Drooping leaves: Underwatering or sudden temperature changes. Leaves can also droop naturally right before your regular watering schedule.

If you ever need some extra help caring for your Philodendron, feel free to send us a message on WhatsApp or book a plant care call with us.
Yes, Philodendrons prefer moderate to high humidity, but adapts to typical UAE indoor levels.

Why this matters indoors: Your leaves will stay broader and edges stay smooth with a bit more humidity.
Tip: Mist the fronds once a day to boost humidity.
Yes — but avoid placing it directly under an AC vent. Constant cold airflow can dry leaf edges and the potting mix unevenly.
Our priority is to get your houseplant to you as safely as possible and ensure that it flourishes when it gets there.

Your plant will arrive in its nursery pot, securely packaged to protect the leaves and prevent soil spillage.

Once received, place your plant in the spot you plan to keep it in and leave it there until it is time to repot, allowing it to acclimate to its new environment.

There are some exceptions to this approach, specifically with our range of micro succulents, that tend to acclimate just fine outside of their nursery pots. So, we've gone ahead and repotted those plants for you.
