If you're looking for a statement indoor plant to place in a bright room, the Yucca Tree is the answer.
The Yucca Tree naturally survives droughts, storing water in its thick trunk to survive periods of neglect.

Botanical name: Yucca Guatemalensis

Yucca Trees grow best in spaces with bright indirect light, where the sun is soft or diffused. They can adapt to medium light, though be careful to not overwater it, as the soil will take longer to dry with lesser light. They can also tolerate direct sunlight, though be sure to check the soil regularly since that will cause your Yucca Tree's soil to dry out faster. Never place it in a dark spot, since the soil will almost definitely take too long to dry out, which will cause your Yucca Tree's roots to rot (a death sentence).
Medium light diagram
Let its soil dry out entirely before watering

Every 2-3 weeks, check as deeply into the soil as you can:

  • If you feel ANY moisture, at all, wait longer before watering.
  • If the soil feels COMPLETELY DRY, then it’s time to water.

Note: the more light it gets, the more often it'll need to be checked & watered.

Discard excess water

When watering, fully water the entire soil mixture. Then, allow all the excess water to drain out the bottom of the pot’s drainage holes. Discard that water.

FAQ

Caring for your Yucca Tree
Yucca Trees thrive in bright, direct to bright indirect light. They evolved in semi-arid and sunny regions of Central America, where they receive hours of unfiltered sunlight each day.

Best placement: Near a bright south or west-facing window where it can get at least 4–6 hours of strong light daily.
If light is too low: The trunk may grow thin and elongated, and leaves may become pale or floppy
Water every 2–3 weeks, allowing the top 5-8 cm of soil to dry out before watering again.

How to check: Insert your finger deep into the soil; if it feels completely dry, it’s time to water.
Why this matters: Yuccas are semi-succulents — they store water in their thick trunk and roots, making them drought tolerant. Overwatering is the most common cause of decline, as their roots can rot if kept constantly damp.
Watering tip: When watering your plant, evenly water the entire soil mixture until you see water draining from the bottom of the nursery pot. After allowing all the excess water to drain out, discard that water.
Repot every 2–3 years, or when roots begin to circle the bottom of the pot. Whichever comes first.

Why not repot right away? Yucca Trees adapt best when left to settle in their environment before being disturbed. Immediate repotting can cause stress and leaf drop.
Best time to repot: October to May, when the plant is actively growing.
Yes! Yucca Trees benefit from regular fertilizing. If you live in the UAE, fertilize once a month from October to May, when your Yucca Tree is actively growing.

During the peak summer months (June–September), growth will slow due to extreme heat, so reduce or pause fertilizing if your plant isn’t actively growing. Over-fertilizing can stress the plant and lead to leaf burn.
Yes — Yuccas are tolerant of the mineral and additive content in UAE tap water, including chloramine.

Better options: Filtered water or distilled water.

To distill water, boil in a kettle at 100 degrees celsius and allow the water to cool down to room temperature overnight.
Yes — given enough light and proper care, Yuccas can grow significantly taller indoors, adding new leaves from the crown. Older leaves will naturally shed from the bottom, exposing more of the trunk.
No — Yucca leaves can be toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, causing vomiting, drooling, or lethargy. Keep your Yucca out of reach of pets.
Lower yellow leaves: A natural aging process; old leaves die back as new ones grow.
Brown tips: Often due to low humidity, under-watering, or exposure to cold drafts.
Soft, drooping leaves: Usually a sign of overwatering or poor drainage.

No — Yuccas prefer dry to average indoor humidity. Their thick leaves and trunk allow them to store water and resist moisture loss. UAE indoor humidity levels are perfectly suitable.
Yes — Yuccas adapt well to air-conditioned environments, but avoid placing them directly under cold air vents, which can dry the leaves excessively.
Our priority is to get your houseplant to you as safely as possible and ensure that it flourishes when it gets there.

Your plant will arrive in its nursery pot, securely packaged to protect the leaves and prevent soil spillage.

Once received, place your plant in the spot you plan to keep it in and leave it there until it is time to repot, allowing it to acclimate to its new environment.

There are some exceptions to this approach, specifically with our range of micro succulents, that tend to acclimate just fine outside of their nursery pots. So, we've gone ahead and repotted those plants for you.
