It's slim, woody trunks branch and twist as they grow, ending with Narrow, deep green leaves finished with a fine crimson edge.

Crimson Dragon Trees grow best in spaces with bright indirect light, where the sun is soft or diffused. They can adapt to medium light, though be careful to not overwater it, as the soil will take longer to dry with lesser light. Avoid placing it under direct midday sunlight (especially during the summer), since that will cause your Crimson Dragon Tree to dry out and the leaf tips to brown. Never place it in a dark spot, since the soil will almost definitely take too long to dry out, which will cause your Crimson Dragon Tree's roots to rot (a death sentence).

Every 2-4 weeks, check as deeply into the soil as you can:

  • If you feel ANY moisture, at all, wait longer before watering.
  • If the soil feels COMPLETELY DRY, then it’s time to water.

When watering, fully water the entire soil mixture. Then, allow all the excess water to drain out the bottom of the pot’s drainage holes. Discard that water.

Caring for your Crimson Dragon Tree (Branched)
Crimson Dragon Trees thrive in bright, indirect light but can adapt to medium light. Too much direct sunlight through glass, especially during the UAE summer, can scorch their narrow, colourful leaves, while too little light can cause the plant to lose its vibrant red edging.

Best placement: Near a bright east-facing window or a few feet back from a south or west-facing window.
If light is too low: New leaves may be duller, and growth will be slower.
Water every 2–3 weeks, allowing the entire soil to dry out before watering again.

How to check: Stick your finger deep into the soil — if it’s still moist, wait a few more days.
Why this matters: Dragon Trees are drought-tolerant and store moisture in their stems; overwatering can lead to root rot.
Watering tip: When watering your plant, evenly water the entire soil mixture until you see water draining from the bottom of the nursery pot. After allowing all the excess water to drain out, discard that water.
Repot every 2–3 years, or when roots begin to circle the bottom of the pot. Whichever comes first.

Why not repot right away? Dracaenas adapt best when left to settle in their environment before being disturbed. Immediate repotting can cause stress and leaf drop.

Yes! Dragon Trees benefit from regular fertilizing. If you live in the UAE, fertilize once a month from October to May, when your Dragon Tree is actively growing.

During the peak summer months (June–September), growth will slow due to extreme heat, so reduce or pause fertilizing if your plant isn’t actively growing. Over-fertilizing can stress the plant and lead to leaf burn.
Not ideal — Dracaenas are sensitive to fluoride, which is present in UAE tap water alongside chloramine. Over time, this can cause leaf tip browning.

Better options: Filtered water or distilled water, especially if you notice leaf tip browning.

To distill water, boil in a kettle at 100 degrees celsius and allow the water to cool down to room temperature overnight.
Yes — indoors, it can grow up to 1.5–2.5m tall over several years. Growth is slow to moderate depending on the amount of light your Crimson Dragon Tree gets.
No — Dragon Trees are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, potentially causing vomiting, drooling, and loss of appetite. Keep out of reach of pets.
Brown tips/edges: Often from fluoride in tap water, low humidity, or underwatering.
Yellow fronds: Overwatering or poor drainage.
Loss of red edges: Usually caused by insufficient light.
