How do I care for my Money Tree?:
In East Asian countries, this plant is a sign of good luck, fortune, and prosperity. It's the perfect gift for somebody moving into a new home or office
 | Light: Bright indirect sunlight Money Trees want a lot of bright indirect sunlight. The more it gets, the taller this tree will grow and the bigger its leaves will be. If your tree's leaves begin to turn yellow or drop soon after bringing it home, it is probably getting too little light - move it closer to a window! However, as with all plants, be careful with direct sunlight (especially near unitinted windows), as too much will cause the water in your tree's leaves evaporate and the leaves to burn. This risk of scorching is higher if your plant gets direct sunlight during the day, when the day is hotest. Either way, keep an eye open for brown scorch marks on your leaves and, if you spot any, move it a few feet further away from your window. In general, try to avoid placing this tree in a corner or a few. |
 | Water: Every 2-3 weeks Money Trees are native to wetlands that go through periods of heavy rainfall followed by drought. As with all plants, the closer to mimic its natural environment, the happier it will be. Whenever watering money trees, make sure to saturate it's soil fully (i.e. until all the excess water is coming out of its drainage holes), then wait for its soil to fully dry before rewatering it, again. To check if it's ready for watering, stick your finger 2 inches into the soil to feel for the moisture. If the soil feels completely dry, you can water your Money Tree again. As with any plant, always make sure to throw away any excess water - water should never be logged at the bottom of the pot. The more light your plant gets, the more you'll need to water it. Similarly, the less light it gets, the less it will need. Pro tip: a common sign of a thirsty Money Tree is wrinkled leaves - if you notice this, then it's time for a drink! |
