The Peace Lily is an ideal plant for those worried about watering schedules.
Aside from being one of few indoor plants that bloom, Peace Lilies are known for 'communicating' when it needs to be watered. The leaves droop slightly when it is thirsty and bounce back after a drink.

Botanical name: Spathiphyllum Wallisii

Peace lilies grow best in spaces with bright indirect light, where the sun is soft or diffused. They can adapt to medium light, though be careful to not overwater it, as the soil will take longer to dry with lesser light. Avoid placing it under direct midday sunlight (especially during the summer), since that will cause your Peace Lily to dry out and the leaf tips to brown. Never place it in a dark spot, since the soil will almost definitely take too long to dry out, which will cause your Peace Lily's roots to rot (a death sentence).
Medium light diagram
Maintain moist soil

Every week, stick your finger 1-2 inches into the soil:

  • If you feel ANY moisture, at all, wait longer before watering.
  • If the soil feels COMPLETELY DRY, then it’s time to water.

Note: the more light it gets, the more often it'll need to be checked & watered

Discard excess water

When watering, fully water the entire soil mixture. Then, allow all the excess water to drain out the bottom of the pot’s drainage holes. Discard that water.

FAQ

Caring for your Peace Lily
Peace Lilies prefer bright, indirect light and can tolerate medium to low light conditions — one of the reasons they’re so popular indoors.

Best placement: Close to an east-facing window, or a few feet from a south or west-facing window with sheer curtains.

If the light is too low: May reduce flowering and cause leaves to darken.

If the light is too strong: Direct UAE summer sun can scorch and fade the leaves.
Water once a week on average, but always check the soil first. Peace Lilies prefer evenly moist soil, but they dislike sitting in soggy soil.

How to check: Insert your finger 2–3 cm into the soil — if it feels dry at the top, water until it begins to drain from the bottom of the nursery pot.

Why this matters: Peace Lilies are not drought tolerant like succulents. If they dry out completely, they’ll droop dramatically — though they usually bounce back after a thorough watering. Frequent underwatering, however, weakens them over time.

Watering tip: When watering your plant, evenly water the entire soil mixture until you see water draining from the bottom of the nursery pot. After allowing all the excess water to drain out, discard that water.
Repot every 1–2 years or when roots start emerging from the drainage holes. Whichever comes first.

Why not repot right away? Peace Lilies can take a few months to adapt to a new space. Repotting too soon after delivery adds stress and may cause drooping or slowed growth.

Best time to repot: October to May, when the plant is actively growing.
Yes! Peace Lilies benefit from regular fertilizing. If you live in the UAE, fertilize once a month from October to May, when your Peace Lily is actively growing.

During the peak summer months (June–September), growth will slow due to extreme heat, so reduce or pause fertilizing if your plant isn’t actively growing. Over-fertilizing can stress the plant and lead to leaf burn.
We recommend avoiding direct use of UAE tap water.

Why: UAE tap water contains chloramine and high levels of dissolved minerals like calcium, which Peace Lilies are sensitive to. This can lead to scorched brown tips or a white crust forming on the soil surface.

Better options: Filtered water or distilled water, especially if you notice leaf tip browning.

To distill water, boil in a kettle at 100 degrees celsius and allow the water to cool down to room temperature overnight.
Yes — Peace Lilies will slowly grow larger, producing more leaves and flower stalks as they mature. With proper care, they can reach up to 1 metre tall indoors.
No — Peace Lilies can cause irritation and digestive upset in cats and dogs if chewed. Keep out of reach of pets.
Yellow leaves: Can be caused by overwatering or poor drainage.
Brown tips: Often due to low humidity, fluoride/chloramine in tap water, or over-fertilising.
Drooping leaves: Usually a sign of underwatering, but can also occur if roots are rotted.

Yes — Peace lilies appreciate moderate humidity, Their tropical origins mean they thrive in environments that mimic rainforest conditions.

Tip: Mist the leaves once a day to boost humidity and wipe leaves regularly to remove dust, which can block light absorption.
Yes — as long as it’s kept away from cold air blowing directly onto it, which can cause leaf edges to brown.
Our priority is to get your houseplant to you as safely as possible and ensure that it flourishes when it gets there.

Your plant will arrive in its nursery pot, securely packaged to protect the leaves and prevent soil spillage.

Once received, place your plant in the spot you plan to keep it in and leave it there until it is time to repot, allowing it to acclimate to its new environment.

There are some exceptions to this approach, specifically with our range of micro succulents, that tend to acclimate just fine outside of their nursery pots. So, we've gone ahead and repotted those plants for you.
